More of the same

I completely ran out of blog ideas last week, so I posted a request for topics on my Facebook wall.  The responses were overwhelming and hilarious.

What my friends want me to write about:

-My beauty regimen (For this, I will post a picture of my entire routine.)

My entire beauty routine. Sometimes I shower too.

-Divorce Court (Unfortunately, I don’t watch this show.  If you have funny commentary, please leave a comment.  I’m sure it’s hilarious.)

-Treats (I’m posting a fall dessert recipe soon!)

-Hot fruit (I don’t even know where to begin with this one.)

Despite these awesome suggestions, the only one that I actually had material for was more pictures of Josie (she’s such a ham).  Alas, there are ALWAYS more pictures of Josie. 😉

My dad thinks this should be illegal.

Is there anything you would like me to write about?  What are your go-to topics when your creative juices aren’t flowing?

A look back with La Petite Pancake highlights

Hey team,

Stephanie recently gave me the task of looking back on a few of my old posts.

It turns out, I’ve been at this blog for almost 2 years and a whopping (for me) 320 posts!  This blog started out as a way for me to document my life, but it has turned into so much more than that.  I’ve found the start of my voice, I’ve made friends, and I look forward to blogging *almost* every week.

So, here goes…a look back at a few of my most notable posts:

Most Beautiful:

The one where I shout my love for Jonathan from the rooftops.  I could add a million reasons why I love him to this post, but 25 is enough for now.  Gotta keep him guessing, right?

Most Helpful:

The one where I reveal the truth about wedding dress shopping.  This is probably the biggest wedding secret that was never revealed to me, but every woman should know about.

Most Controversial:

The one where I got real about plagiarism.  I feel very strongly about stealing content, but I sometimes forget that those principles apply to the internet too.  This post reminds me that the internet isn’t a free-for-all and that you still need to cite your sources.

Most Popular:

The one where I discover the life of pugs.  Pretty much any post about Josie receives way more traffic than posts where I talk about human beings.  This is probably my favorite Josie post and the pictures still crack me up.

Most Underrated:

The one where I confront the validity of Sandra Lee’s “cooking” show.  I felt like there could have been quite extensive and hilarious banter on this, but I settled for the hilarity that ensued on Twitter.  Bless multiple social-media outlets.

Most Surprisingly Successful:

The one where I make pecan pie.  I get several hits weekly for this post, mainly the hits are from people looking for When Harry Met Sally quotes.  Sadly, I doubt any of them made the incredible pie that this post actually features.

Most Pride Worthy:

The one where I quit my job, moved across the country, and started acting like a grown up.  I often forget how huge of a leap I took, but it makes me incredibly happy and proud that I am capable of changing the course of my life.

I would love to take a tour of these blog histories:

Cleaning up shop

When I started blogging, it was something silly to get out my thoughts.  Over the course of its little existence, it has grown to be a place where I have been able to come back to time and time again to share with my family and long-distance friends.  Not to mention the petite gaggle of readers who keep coming back and whose blogs I thoroughly enjoy reading in return.

I have learned a ton, gotten some great recipes, shared secrets, and made friends.  I would like to say I’ve also gone through some sort of deep spiritual transformation, but to be honest, it has mostly been about the entertainment value.

I laugh every day reading blogs.

Sometimes I pee a little.

Anyway, the point is…I want to keep on blogging, but if I’m going to do that, I need to change the way things run around here a bit.

1) I am going to post on a M-W-F schedule.  There might be posts on other days, but you will find me here fo sho on those days.

2) I’m changing my blog title.  Anything fun come to mind?

3) There will be some new tabs so that things are easier to find.  For sure there will be a “Food” tab, but I’m still working on the other ones.

What would you like to see more of around here?

If you had to pick the top thing you have learned from blogging, what would it be?

You Found Me!

I am now the 5th result on Google when you search for “grandma nipples” because of this post.

I am getting at least 2 hits a day from these perverts.

I’m not terribly shocked, but maybe I should take a little more pride in things I post on the internet?

Naaaaahhhhh

I’m still here

Hi team,

I realize how cryptic my last post and then seeming disappearance from the internets must have been.  In all honesty, my dad got real sick real fast and then did a 180 and felt real healthy.  It scared the crap out of me.  Plus, work was crazy and the apartment was falling into a state of abandonment.

I needed a break.

I hope that’s ok.

Since my last post, a lot has happened.

The prince got married, Osama got killed, and earthquakes tore countries apart.  I hope everyone you know is safe and healthy right now.  Jonathan’s family living in Japan is perfectly fine…in case you knew his family was in Japan, which you most likely didn’t.  Especially because he is Chinese, which seems confusing.

Anyway…

I quit my job, I got accepted into graduate school, Josie got fat, and we all sang karaoke.

So, hey, I’m still here!  I will be posting on a regular basis again.  Thanks for letting me have my little hiatus.  And thank you so much to the blogger friends who have still been checking my site for posts and sending me quick messages.  I am so lucky to have awesome readers like you!

Love,

Mads

I’m still here, but barely

I wrote this super long awesome post, complete with pictures, captions, and hooplah.

Then WordPress ate it.

I almost considered quitting my blog.

This post is here simply to tell you that something special could have been in its place.

Quick Update: Part Deux

I will be going to IL next week from Wednesday to Saturday.  I have two wonderful women who will be guest posting for me while I’m gone.  If you have any interest in writing a guest post, I will be more than happy to promote your blog and/or your general awesomeness.  Just leave a comment here saying you want to guest post!

The fact that I am going to IL next week is neither good news nor bad news.  My grandma is doing well in the nursing home (hopefully she’ll be outta there in the next few months), but my grandpa’s status is still up in the air.  Nobody really has any idea what the problem is or what’s causing it.  Sooooo that means that my mom and I will be tag-teaming the hospital chair and talking with doctors.

In other news, the temperature is going down in Long Beach.  I bought 4 cans of soup today in order to prepare for the long cold winter.  Oh, wait…

Arid is quite possible the shittiest deodorant I’ve ever come across.

My herbs are being deprived of water, but they are still quite angry with me.

I have discovered that shredded chicken is really the best way to eat chicken breast.

I don’t know if you remember my post about Catan being settled by a woman, but it’s about to be settled some more.  We just got the game in the mail!!!  Doo dee da doo doooooo!

My family is truly beautiful, but mostly just on the outside:
