Gaga

I’ve mentioned my love for Gaga in the past, but from time to time I feel like I need to reiterate.

I. Love. Gaga.

She was on The View recently and discussed everything from her outfit choices to bullying to meeting the queen.

I understand why people don’t like her.

I do.

Sort of.

Ok, not really.

Anyway, I found this version of “Poker Face” today and fell in love.  It’s slow, jazzy, and soulful.  Check it out here:

Music is my boyfriend

A few things about music…

My iTunes was recently lost to the computer goblins.

Grooveshark.com allows me to listen to songs for free sans commercials and that makes me happy.  It also allows me to save a playlist of favorite songs.  I love grooveshark.

Readers, you weighed in on your favorites a few months ago.  Now my playlist is diverse and bada$$.  Thank you.

I used to HATE and DREAD karaoke.  Then I realized the point is to drink and be merry and my opinion shifted.  I wish everyone sang with abandon.  Here are my favorite karaoke songs:

Laid by James.  The lyrics are hysterical and the high shrieking parts will win the crowd.

It’s All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion.  This is for the bolder karaoke singer.  I sang it with a group of ladies once and I was white-knuckle gripping the microphone.  That is how awesome this song is.  I suggest closing your eyes while singing for the full effect.

Gypsies Tramps and Thieves by Cher.  This song brings happiness to everyone.

Stay by Lisa Loeb.  For the moodier and smaller karaoke groups.  I have yet to meet somebody who doesn’t know all the lyrics to this song.  To emphasize that point, I would like to repost the top comment from youtube for this video:

“I am a 27 year old male bachelor listening to Lisa Loeb at 2:00 AM on a Friday night… and I am going to let the song finish.” –chris77jay77

Please please please share your favorite karaoke songs.  If you don’t sing, what are your favorites to quietly mumble along to at the bar?

Smile

This week has been insanity.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for returning to my blog.  In light of some recent family emergency stuff, I decided that we all need some things to smile about today.

So, without further ado, three songs that brought a smile to my face today:

#1 Kate Nash — We Get On  (please please pay attention to the lyrics, they will make you chuckle)

#2 Alabama — Dixieland Delight (I don’t particularly like country, but I LOVE drinking beer and belting out country songs when the mood strikes.)

#3 Miley Cyrus — Party in the USA (Judge if you will, but this has to be the most fun carefree party song.  It always reminds me of a cabin weekend that involved dancing on coolers.)

Happy Thursday world 🙂

Trolling for music

People of the internet, I need your help again.

Pretty please with sugar on top.

Sometimes it seems like the majority of my day is spent in the car driving from client to client.  Most of the time I listen to NPR, but that can be problematic when it’s member drive week or there happens to be a crisis in Egypt.

Not that there’s anything wrong with learning about the crisis in Egypt, but it gets a little old when you hear it for 4 hours each day for over a week. *ahem*  Getting on with things.

I broke down my listening in this handy dandy pie chart.

I’m so bored with NPR and my iTunes playlist, I am officially going insane.

What new music do I have to check out?  What are some of your favorites?

Thank you,  in advance, for saving my sanity.

Rock the Garden

I’m all about The Current, but I have never fully supported MPR until now.  $40 early-bird Rock the Garden tickets for MPR members?  Uhm YES please!!!  I literally signed up to pledge 5 bucks a month to MPR just to get my tickets early.  haha  I mean, I’ve been meaning to pledge for months, this was an easy option.

The lineup:
Retribution Gospel Choir
OK Go
Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
MGMT

AWESOME!

Love love MGMT and totally dig Sharon Jones.  Not sure about the other two, but I can’t exactly pass up a chance to laze around on a grassy knoll with a brewsky and some chill music.  Your thoughts on the lineup?
