I decided to contribute “Perfect Fudge Brownies” (please refrain from any Crohn’s and Colitis jokes for the remainder of this blog post or we’ll have a real mess on our hands).
Since I deemed them “perfect”, I had to go through MANY iterations of these brownies before I actually “perfected” the recipe. I called in my food blog pals to assess why the first few attempts were so cakey (too much leavening with baking powder). Then I had to remove eggs and add chocolate to increase the fudge factor. It really was a process. Finally I found the winner! These bad boys are fudgey, chocolatey, gooey perfections of your traditional brownie.
If you’re interested in winning a whole big batch of these brownies, head on over to Megan’s page
Recipe to follow once the winners have been selected…

I’m headed east to the desert.
Literally. I will be in Palm Springs for the weekend! Carmageddon can’t keep me down.
Don’t forget to enter the Zappos giveaway while I’m gone!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen,
My shoe situation is slowly improving.
If you know me, you know I wear those cheap Old Navy flip flops 95% of the time. It’s sort of disturbing, especially since I am now considered “an adult” and should consider “professionalism” once I start doling out advice for $100 an hour (ok, so maybe I’ll never be a therapist, but it’s good to start planning ahead and buying the appropriate shoes).
I’ve swapped out some flip flop days for Grecian-style sandal days:
I also purchased my first pair of nude pumps. I know these are “trendy” right now, but I feel like the shoes are so versatile that I will be able to wear them long past their trendy expiration date.
Apparently these shoes no longer exist on the internet...anywhere. Which is awesome because Josie just chewed the crap out of mine. *SUPER ANGRY EYEBROWS* Must. Shop. Online. Now. That will teach me to leave my shoes out after taking a picture for my blog. Gah.
I’ve written about my love for Zappos.com in the past, and it bears repeating.
Which is why I’m giving you the chance to win a $25 gift card to Zappos!
1-Comment here about your favorite pair of shoes.
2-Tweet and then leave a comment that you tweeted (@madsyjoy I want to win those shoes on La Petite Pancake http://tinyurl.com/63zzprg)
3- Blog about the giveaway and link back to me.
*Entries limited to the US
Winner will be announced Wednesday, July 20th.
The holidays have come and gone. Next up is Valentine’s Day, but I don’t know anyone who does a gift exchange for the occasion. In any case, here comes the 10 month stretch of no gifts (excluding birthdays). Tis time to treat yourself to something special.
A plain ole meat tenderizer.
There is some debate on the utility of meat tenderizers, but I love me some flat chicken. I hate chewing my way through 2 inch thick chicken breasts. The end.
Lush shampoo bars.
These smell gorgeous, use real organic ingredients, and last forever. I really can’t say enough good things about Lush products. Find a store immediately and ask the salespeople to demonstrate their products.
I need some full-grown basil in my herb planters. Stat!
- How I Met Your Mother: Season 6
How I Met Your Mother is obviously one of the best shows on TV. If you don’t believe me, just watch seasons 1 through 6 and then get back to me. I need the sixth season. The sooner the better.
A new Prius.
Obviously a new car would be helpful. Anyone want to buy me a Prius? Seriously though, gas expenses are killing me! I work 50 minutes away from home and my 10 year old Isuzu Rodeo only gets 18 miles to the gallon. With gas at $3.43, you can do the math on how much of my salary goes to the pump. Woof.
I may or may not have revealed how much of a hippie I am in this post. I am a sick hybrid between hippie and yuppie. You shouldn’t be friends with me and you certainly shouldn’t be reading this blog.
What’s on your “it isn’t a holiday, but damn it’s time to buy myself some stuff” wish list?
