Working out is for chumps, but I’m quickly realizing it’s for skinny chumps. I would like to be a skinny chump.
Enter: Gym membership.
(side note…gym memberships come super cheap at Costco, but you need to prepay. I can handle that if I get 150 bucks off. Win)
I’ve worked out a schedule with Jonathan, so I’m hoping we motivate each other to go. Being at the gym is no big deal, it’s the getting there that is the hard part. Doesn’t it feel like there is always something more important to do than the gym?
I try to attend group classes as much as possible to avoid boredom, but that doesn’t always line up with my work schedule.
What do you do to stay amped up about working out? Any good exercises to bust out of a boring routine?
A trainer once told me that boredom is the number one reason people quit going to the gym. Boredom is not gonna get to me!

I currently don’ t have a gym membership, but the only thing that would motivate me at the gym would be to go when there was a really good t.v. show on (assuming your gym has t.v.s and you get some sort of control over them). I basically rewarded myself for going to the gym and working out on a machine by watching something I just couldn’t miss.
It worked for me.
That is until my last gym membership at a gym with no t.v.s and where the treadmills faced a brick wall. Let’s just say there’s a reason I don’t have a gym membership anymore.
Good luck! You can do it! I totally have to motivate myself and start exercising more.

hahaha TV is a great motivator! I will have to scope out a few locations to see what my options are.
I suppose I’m going to be sitting around watching tv anyway, I might as well get a good hour of working out in as well.
I agree with Julie. The only way I stay motivated is to watch TV while I’m on the treadmill or elliptical, otherwise working out is hell for me. A good motivator is to only allow yourself to watch one of your favorite TV shows while you are working out.
haha working out is hell
that should be the title of my next workout post.
You can do it! My most motivating exercise force are my workout DVDs–they always keep things interesting and keep me moving! Plus, there’s no excuse to not workout when I don’t have to go any farther than the living room to exercise 🙂
The gym will be fun though–maybe try setting your workout schedule at the beginning of the week. It helps keep me motivated to plan out what DVDs I’m doing and what days I’m working out on Sunday.
Good luck–you can definitely do it!
